Child
support and alimony are some of the most important issues that must
be settled in a divorce. While marriage dissolution results in the
separation of the husband and the wife, this does not void the
responsibility of former spouses to ensure the welfare and future of
their children. Some divorces take much time in deciding upon the
appropriate amounts for alimony and support, but with proper guidance
and legal assistance, both parties can be assured that their children
will get the needed care from both parents.
During
the dissolution
process, either of the divorcing parties can ask their lawyers to
make an appointment with the other party to discuss child support and
alimony. Discussions regarding these matters are important as alimony
ensures that a divorcee can get back on the road to financial
independence that would enable him or her to take care of the
children. Child support, on the other hand, is necessary as a
reminder that no person should fail to do his or her part as a
responsible parent.
It
may also be important that divorcing parties talk about who gets to
keep the pets after the marriage dissolution becomes final as the
children may be accustomed to having their furry friends with them at
the house. If it helps kids get a normal life somehow, parents should
agree to have the pets reside with whoever gets primary custody of
the children.
